To make a long story short, Impressionism is a movement that aims to portray the impression the subject leaves rather than its details.
Fused by the critiques, sometimes violent, suffered by their work, and by the successive refusals of Le Salon de Paris, major Art institution of the era, the young artists start to gather to paint and discuss.
And since the movement goes against a few well establish "rules", the impressionists were disparaged for many years.
At Auberge Eymet, the rooms aren't numbered but rather named after painters from the Impressionist era.
To allow you a quick visit of our little corners of peace and happiness, we invite you to click on the auto-portraits of the painters in questions to discover the painters that inspired the name and colours of our rooms.
